Introduction
Pilot-operated check valves (PO check valves) are typically used to maintain pressure in a cylinder in the event of a drop or total loss of pressure. The hydraulic check valve locks oil in the device until the pilot signal is energized, at which time the valve opens and oil is vented from the cylinder.
Double pilot check valves are used to block the cylinder in both directions. Flow is free in one direction and blocked in the opposite direction until pilot pressure is applied. They are used on double-acting cylinders. The port locations on this model are different from the standard version.
Function
The dual pilot check valve consists of two check valves assembled in series. This employs two operating principles: firstly one check valve will still act, even if the other is jammed wide open. Secondly, the closure of one valve reduces the pressure differential across the other, allowing a more reliable seal and avoiding even minor leakage.
Working Principle
Connect the actuator ports to be controlled to C1 and C2, and connect the pressure flow to V1 and V2. When Pressure is applied to port V2 the valve allows flow from port C1 to V1 and likewise, when pressure is applied to port V1 it allows flow from port C2 to V2.
